My name is Andy Baldwin and I am a doctor in the US Navy. I have had the opportunity to travel the world for my job for Navy Medicine and have been moved by the kindness of humanity, the pain of poverty, and the hope of children worldwide, but never before have I had an experience like these last few months. Over the last seven weeks I have chronicled my journey with the Navy’s Global Force for Good providing medical care at a small rural clinic in Kenya. I also trained for the Nairobi marathon and the ING New York marathon, two marathons, two continents, one week apart and a world of difference. After finishing the ING NY Marathon, I wrote to my editor about my race experience. It was the toughest, most emotionally challenging, physically exhausting, and ultimately inspiring race I’d ever run. She remarked “Andy, your description of the marathon is pretty much a summary of your time in Africa.” She was right. First, I’m going to explain how much my experience in Africa reminded me of the mixed emotions and highs and lows of the 26-mile marathons I have run so many times before. Then, I will share with you more detail about my time in Africa, along with very special personal photographs from my trip.

Heartfelt book, worth the read

Running with Kenyans is a beautifully written book that takes you into an emotional journey through the eyes of Dr. Andy Baldwin. This book managed to make me smile, cry, get my blood boiling and at the same time make me immensely proud.I was glued to the pages and couldn't help thinking what I would do if I were in some of those situations. My ten year old daughter noticed my reactions and asked what I was reading. I shared some of the stories with her and showed her some pictures, her response was " why don't people help?" Hopefully this will be the response that most people have. Through this book Dr. Andy has managed to bring both obesity and world hunger to peoples attention. I look forward to following Dr. Andy through his journey to run for something better and maybe one day don the orange laces myself.

"Running with Kenyans" is a story of a Navy's Doctor's experience at a medical clinic in the Rift Valley in Kenya. It documents the joys,the friendships,fustrations and the everyday experiences while there. The friendships made and the wonderful people he met while working there is an inspiration for people of all ages. As you get into the story, you can almost feel that you are there experiencing the day to day challenges. The pictures are great. I started reading it and stayed up into the night. I laughed and I cried, but after I finished the book I decided that there is something we all can do to help others. If more people would give and help others like Dr. Andy,the world indeed would be a better place. A read that is a must for people of all ages.

This is a wonderful book for those that are curious or want to ...

I had read articles and reviews about this book (all positive and informative) and they were all true! This is a wonderful book for those that are curious or want to experiment with prostate stimulation. It has a sort of step-by-step explanation from the very beginning so novices that are basically just starting out have something to go on. Also, it debunks some terrible myths and give light to questions questions people have about this area. I enjoyed it very much and passed some information on to my boyfriend.

Total waste of money

If there was a zero, that's what I'd give this book. Nothing in the write up indicated that this book is STRICTLY a marriage manual. I feel that the author's note should have been included, then I would have saved the money. It states, "I believe that sex and love belong together in a loving, faithful, committed, married relationship. This is a marriage manual." Another quote from the book, "If you give a man a daily dose of oral sex, his need for sexual excitement is controlled and the marriage is healthy." Puleeze...There is more of this same type of drivel, and it all comes down to the author's "fact" that the straight missionary position is the only "right way" to have the only "REAL" orgasm. Gaaaaggggggg. Total waste of my money, but at least I won't waste my time by reading it. I'd like a refund for this one.

She's a fruit loop!

This is an awful book. It was poorly written for one thing (I think she forgot to have it edited). She babbles and repeats herself over and over. She's probably high on the loads of vitamins and minerals she takes! I already thought she was crazy, but the chapter about her being a vegan and telling exactly how much of each vitamin and mineral she takes, what a freak! Why did she think that was relative to the book anyway?
The book simply says that if a wife doesn't pleasure her husband whenever he wants and doesn't keep it exciting he WILL cheat. That's it, that's all the crazy back and fourth babbling says. And wow, the suggestions of roll playing, naughty boy, delivery boy, little kid, schoolgirl and school teacher! I think she's a total perve and I certainly wouldn't allow her around my children.
My darling husband bought this book for me after hearing something on the radio. Kind of scary, but he says he didn't realize know the underlying subject of the book "Be a freak in bed or your husband WILL cheat". I do have to give this book a little credit, however. After reading this I was inspired to read more on the subject. I read "Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus in the Bedroom" by John Gray and Lou Paget's book "How to Be a Great Lover." I did enjoy these books. I thought that John Grays book was very male centered. But to tell the truth ladies, our sex life has improved drastically. We have sex more often and I've found that he's a lot less moody as a result! I was surprised to discover that, for us, sex was a major key to achieving more peace in our relationship.

This book is not good. In fact is just really bad...

I purchased this book out of curiousity when I was about 16, to learn the stuff about sex that they don't say in health class. I have had this book since then. I couldn't get through it then and I still can't now everytime I try to read this book I get an urge to strangle the author within the first few pages and she isn't talking about anything I didn't know as a virgin at 16. I had read better books then and I I am now almost 30, everytime I try to give this book a second chance I still can't get through it. I'll save you the money, here's what the book is about, you a woman busy with running the house, the kids and your own life should you be so bold as to attempt to have one, must submit and drop everything so that you can satisfy your man whenever he wants or he will cheat or leave you and according to Ms. Hayden, it's all your fault. Meanwhile, in my life I learned before i hit 25 that a guy doesn't need a reason to cheat if he's a cheater. I hope her book "How to Satisfy a Woman Everytime, and Have Her Beg For More," told the man that if he can't handle a strong woman who can do it all without her he should grow up. There are better books out there, I have read them. How To Make Love To A Man by Alexander Penny, 203 Ways to Drive A Man Wild In Bed, The Kama Surta.... any book but this one.

Good book, but not a bible

This book is a good way to get familiar with online social tools. The author covers ways to use email, social networking tools and publishing tools. He has good information about establishing some goals and determining a strategy for meeting the goals. He also has a lot of useful references if you want to get more familiar with a particular topic.

I only gave it three stars for the following reasons:
- Too much coverage of the history of the internet, email, and web pages. If I was interested in that, I'd get a book on the history of the internet, email, and web pages.
- Misinformation on some tools, and missing information about other tools. For instance, the author mentions Joomla, a content management system that can be used to create websites and blogs. He mentions it in a way that may mislead people as to its uses when he states that it can pair with any number of applications. It might work with other applications, but that may require coding skills or money to pay someone to make them work together. He also ignores the multitude of other open source content management systems that are out there.
- A serious amount of repetition in sections one and two. A lot of what is stated in the second section is already in the first, so it added a few hundred pages without saying a whole lot.

This is a good book. It's less complete than the title suggests.

A Comprehensive Social Media Resource

Ask a hundred people what "social media" is, and you may get a hundred different definitions. Frankly, social media doesn't just connect people--it baffles them, too. The authors of "The Social Media Bible," however, have made a considerable attempt at creating a resource that helps readers gain an overall understanding of the social media "ecosystem" (to put it in the authors' terms) and how the social media phenomenon relates to business.

First, I think it's in order to discuss what this tome covers. Part I, Background Basics and Tactics, comprises the first 23 chapters. This section of the book defines social media, explains the different types of social media, and helps you understand why it's important. You get coverage here of everything from social networks to microblogging to virtual worlds. If you've read other books about social media, you may already be familiar with some of this content. If you're brand new to social media, you'll find it especially helpful.

Part II, Tools, comprises chapters 24-38 and revisits the different categories of social media, focusing on current popular tools. The authors discuss each tool, focusing on who should use them and why; you'll even find some more technical information in these chapters. Although I appreciated the broad look at all the different types of the social media, I felt that the sections could have gone into more detail. However, you could easily write an entire book on each type of social media presented, so the authors clearly had to limit coverage of each type of social media resource.

Part III, Strategy, includes the final chapters of 39-43 and offers some excellent advice on how to apply everything learned in the book. I appreciated the bits of advice spread throughout as well as the cohesive strategies presented. I especially found the chapter "The Four Pillars of Social Media Strategy" helpful, which discusses how a social media strategy should have goals of communication, collaboration, education, and entertainment.

Although some of the principles in this book will endure, much of the descriptions for current social media tools will quickly go out of date (as some already have). However, the authors clearly recognized this and intended it to be a timely book. If you're new to the concept of social media and seeking how to apply social media to your business, the "Social Media Bible" is a great resource. If you're already familiar with using social media, you may find yourself skipping some of the basic information in the book. Overall, I believe there is wisdom for everyone to find in this useful guide--the kind of wisdom that will help you to give new life to your company's online marketing efforts in the social media world.

This book is an 800-pound guerilla when it comes to social media marketing. Four thumbs up!

Great book! Loved it! It's huge and heavy and not particularly pricey. I found it to be well organized and well written. And it was certainly packed to the gills with content. There are 43 chapters split into three different sections: (1) Background basics & tactics, (2) Tools, & (3) Strategy. The chapters in the first part provide an introduction and framework regarding the book. The numerous chapters in the second part cover 100+ social media tools. And the last five or six chapters in the third part can help you do an audit of the social media marketing your company does (or doesn't do).

The book is comprehensive. I haven't seen a book that covers so much and in such depth on the topic of social media marketing (or Internet Marketing). There were a ton of "Expert Insights" sprinkled throughout the text that really made the book shine. And each chapter ended with three summaries: (1) Commandments, (2) Conclusion, & (3) Readings & Resources. Each were well done. In particular the Readings & Resources for each chapter were better than most books have at the end of an entire book. 6 stars!
